End table rehab

I have to admit that I have recently become addicted to painting old pieces of furniture that I find around the house.  I purchased this little side table several years ago at Home Goods for our sun room at home.  Since we no longer use it, I brought it to New Hampshire and thought it would make a great nightstand in the guest room.  We gave it light sanding by hand, washed it, painted one coat of Bins primer, 2 coats of semi gloss paint and added a new knob.  The country side table is now a modern night stand perfect for this small guest room.

Lake House Renovation

My husband found this in the basement and asked if I wanted to keep it. The wheel in my head started turning!A new piece of wood, foam, 3 coats of paint, 3/4 yard of fabric and you have a brand new bench! My husband and I were fortunate enough to purchase a cute little ranch on a small lake in New Hampshire a few months ago.  When we visited the home the first time, we were able to see past the tired interior, and envision a cozy retreat for our family and friends to visit.  The home was built in 1968 and appears not to have had any updates (except electrical).  Since we had such a rough winter, and obviously weren't able to work on the outside of the home, we started updating the interior.  My husband and I have spent nearly every weekend sanding, priming and painting to bring some life back to the house.  Needless to say, as you will see in upcoming days, it only takes a little paint and some imagination to create a new and updated look.  Since I have my own window treatment design business, I am able to create all the window treatments and accessories, which has saved us quite a bit of money.  We found various pieces of furniture around the house, that with a little TLC are now functional and appear brand new.

Soften up a large bathroom with fabric

Before the drape was installed. Still not a bad shower, but the drape brought it to the next level.Goblet pleated silk drapes with tassel fringe installed against glass shower. We have been working on a rather large home for several years.  The master bathroom was one of the last projects in the house.  The bathroom is large but only has one window.  A designer friend of mine suggested that we add a drape to the glass shower.  That few yards of silk really dressed up the area.

One twin sheet goes a long way

After - Room darkening shade, window seat and assorted pillowsNew vanity seat cover and second shade.BeforeI was recently asked to make a window seat and roman shades for a girls bedroom with a twin sheet purchased at Pottery Barn Teen.  In case anyone would like to copy the look the collection is "Bead Dottie" and the color is "Pool".  The client asked if there was enough fabric left over from the window seat, could I also add a border to the roman shades?  Since I have 4 boys I always jump at the opportunity to work on a girls room!!  As you can see from the pictures, I was able to construct a 41" x 26" x 4" self piped window seat and also add the fabric to the shades.
